４月13、14日の２日間、国立京都国際会館でWorld Health Summit Regional Meeting Asia, Kyoto 2015 が開催されました。校外学修としてGAコースの生徒49名が２日目の日程に参加し、国内外を代表する著名な研究者によるセミナーやパネルディスカッションを見学しました。
本校生が見学したプログラムは、モナシュ大学、ジョンズホプキンズ大学、ジュネーブ大学、インディアナ大学の各大学の教授が登壇し、京都大学大学院医学研究科社会健康医学系専攻教授の福原俊一先生の司会によって進行されたパネルディスカッション「次世代リーダーシップの育成」、世界初のサイボーグ型ロボットであるロボットスーツ「HAL」を開発した筑波大学大学院教授でサイバニクス研究センターの山海嘉之先生のセミナー、Social Epidemiologyを世界で初めて学問分野として確立された社会疫学の第一人者であるハーバード大学教授のイチロー・カワチ先生の講演などです。
高校生には難しい内容もかなりありましたが、国際的な会議の様子を間近で体験でき、大きな知的刺激を受けることができました。
GA Students Visit World Health Summit in Kyoto
On April 13th and 14th World Health Summit Regional Meeting Asia, Kyoto 2015 was held in Kyoto International Conference Center and forty-nine students of the Takatsuki GA course visited some programs of the second day on a one-day school trip.
The programs they saw were (1) a panel discussion “Fostering New Leadership in Medical Academia” with professors from Monash, Johns Hopkins, Geneva and Indiana as speakers on the stage, which was chaired by Dr. Shunichi Fukuhara, Dean of the School of Public Health, Kyoto University, (2) a lecture by Dr. Yoshiyuki Sankai, professor of the University of Tsukuba and the director of the Center for Cybernics Research, who developed the first cyborg-robot suit named HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb) in the world, and (3) a lecture by Dr. Ichiro Kawachi, professor of Harvard School of Public Health, who established the field of “Social Epidemiology.”
Though the contents of the programs were often above the level of high school students, they were intellectually stimulated by an atmosphere of serious international academic conferences.
